Answer the questions, and use the configs below for the answers you don’t know. If you run into snags, please comment below so I can help. One common snag, is monitor not showing correct aspect ratio, you can go here, ——— if you run into that problem.

    • Partitioner:
Format by doing guided partition on entire hard drive, and hit all the defaults.
    • IP Address:
On a static IP, you must input the IP numbers your ISP has given you. For this install, Ubuntu will only need your IP address and DNS. But, you will need to get all the numbers from your ISP for further installation, which are IP address, gateway, subnet mask, DNS 1, and DNS 2.
    • Computer Name:
Choose a good computer name for scalability and naming conventions. For example, you could name the computer ubuntubox101. The first number (1) being part of a group and the (01) is used for padding so you can add additional computers to this group.
    • Choose install type:
For this tutorial, choose LAMP which is short for Linux Apache MySql PHP.
    • Username:
It will ask you twice. i.e. charlesp is the username and charlesp is the user
    • Username Password:
Pick a strong password, with uppercase, lowercase, and numbers. i.e. MountAinKinG2192, or better yet go here, http://www.pctools.com/guides/password/ and create one.
    • MySql password:
      Pick a different strong password.
    • Reboot:
After these questions and a reboot (remove CD), it will drop you into a black screen asking you to login.
    • Login:
Login with your username and password.
    • Graphical Interface:

      Insert CD
At the prompt type: sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop

    • After execution:
At the prompt type: sudo reboot now
      Remove CD
    • After Reboot:
